Extreme cold in North Georgia. The wind chill alarm remains active

ATLANTA, Georgia (Telemundo Atlanta) — The Arctic cold snap hit North Georgia Thursday night. Official weather reports say it’s “a once-in-a-lifetime event”. Strong winds, sub-zero temperatures and power outages have been reported in the region.

As of 5 am on Friday, around 100,000 users were facing no electricity.

A wind chill advisory is in effect until noon Saturday in several North Georgia counties. This means that the thermal sensation in contact with the air could be 20 degrees lower than the actual temperature. In the region included in the alert, temperatures will be in the single digits and even negative.

Given the conditions, the authorities warn of the danger of dangerous “black ice”, which forms when any accumulation of water on the road freezes, and which could be present on the roads this Friday after the previous night’s rains.
