Let us mention that the team of scientists achieved this success by a different method than previously thought. An alloy of sodium and potassium and water vapor were used for this purpose. Thanks to this, metal water was created, which results in a golden color, informs the magazine. It is also no surprise that clean water practically does not conduct electricity. In order to be able to do this, it must contain, for example, dissolved salts. Even so, the conductivity of such an electrolyte is quite low, compared to metals it is lower by several orders of magnitude. It is also no surprise that pure water practically does not conduct electricity. In order to be able to do this, it must contain, for example, dissolved salts. Nevertheless, the conductivity of such an electrolyte is quite low, compared to metals it is lower by several orders of magnitude. At the same time, experts believe that the same conductivities as copper wire, for example, can occur in water in the cores of large planets. There, the high pressure presses the water molecules together so that their electron shells begin to overlap, creating a conductivity band typical of metallic materials. The new method has ensured success. As already mentioned, such pressure cannot be achieved under normal terrestrial conditions. However, Jungwirth’s team went a little differently and used a procedure that does not need him to prepare metal water. The scientist was told that his team was testing a method of massively dissolving alkali metal electrons in water. After the usual addition of sodium to water, for example, an explosion occurs. However, this transition to “metallic behavior” at the molecular level was not their first experience now. Scientists described him last spring, when an article about their discovery was published in the journal Science. According to him, however, scientists also “played” with explosions. This was very important for them, because by understanding the way they work, they also came up with a way around it. And what is the success of this method? The whole magic is that in a vacuum chamber, scientists exposed a drop of an alloy of sodium and potassium to a small amount of water vapor, which began to condense on its surface. In this way, the electrons released from the alkali metal dissolved into the water layer faster than the chemical reaction causing the explosion. There were enough of them to cross the line to create a conduction belt. This created a metallic aqueous solution that contained both these electrons and dissolved alkaline cations and chemically formed hydroxide and hydrogen. In addition, the scientist noted that they made the necessary equipment more or less on their knees in a small laboratory at the Prague Institute. This is where the first experiments took place. The entire scientific team has now succeeded in achieving the goal that Jungwirth had previously called the “most explosive dream.” According to him, this is “nice basic research” that brings new knowledge and can attract students to chemistry. However, he adds that he still has a lot of finishing touches.

Science is still in its infancy. We burn plants in various forms. We are at the zero stage of civilization. The first – can control terrestrial forces, such as tectonics, volcanic activity, use an element such as 115. The second – can control the forces of the solar system such as the energy of the sun and surrounding planets. Third – it controls the forces of the galaxy, such as black holes … What about copper plate? Is it also conductive? ???????????????? ????????????????

Researchers can attribute another interesting success to their account. They managed to produce metal water. It should be mentioned that this success was due to scientists led by Pavel Jungwirth from the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (IOCB). An article on success and progress was published in the prestigious journal Nature.
–
It is also no surprise that clean water practically does not conduct electricity. In order to be able to do this, it must contain, for example, dissolved salts. Even so, the conductivity of such an electrolyte is quite low, compared to metals it is lower by several orders of magnitude.
–
At the same time, experts believe the same conductivity, such as copper wire, can occur in the cores of large planets near water. There, the high pressure presses the water molecules together so that their electron shells begin to overlap, creating a conductivity band typical of metallic materials.

The new method ensured success
As has already been said, such pressure cannot be achieved under normal earthly conditions. However, Jungwirth’s team went a little differently and used a procedure that does not need him to prepare the metal water.
–
“One of the favorite school experiments and themes of many YouTube videos is throwing sodium into the water. As is notorious, throwing a piece of sodium into the water does not form metallic water, but is immediately followed by a massive explosion that destroys the apparatus, “Jungwirth said, adding:” parties. We did not add alkali metal to the water, but water to the metal. “
—
However, this transition to “metallic behavior” at the molecular level was not their first experience now. Scientists described it last spring, when an article about their discovery was published in the journal Science.
–
“It was such a preparatory job that we tested it on liquid ammonia. Such an exercise for real. And the real thing is the (metal) water, “Jungwirth explained.
—
“Thanks to that, we managed to create a thin layer of a gold-colored metallic aqueous solution for a few seconds. That was enough for us to not only see it with our own eyes, but also measure the spectrometers, “Jungwirth remarked.
—
“We then obtained key evidence for the presence of metallic water using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy on a synchrotron in Berlin,” he added.
—
The entire scientific team has now succeeded in achieving what Jungwirth had previously called the “most explosive dream.” According to him, this is a “nice basic research“, Which brings new knowledge and can attract students to chemistry. However, he adds that he still has a lot of finishing touches.
–
“Of course, there are still many things to do. When we did it on the ammonia, we were able to map the transition from when it is metal, when it is no longer metal. From that gold color to blue. Something similar could go in the water. And I think it will work, “Jungwirth concluded.
