JAKARTAWilliam Shatner , the star of the Star Trek television series compared his journey into space to a funeral. The actor, who plays Captain James T Kirk in the Star Trek series, is known for traveling into space on the Blue Origin spacecraft on October 13, 2021.

At that time the actor, born on March 22, 1931, went into Earth orbit with the CEO Blue origin , Jeff Bezos. The space travel which was quite short proved to be very significant for William Shatner.

In his confession to Vanity Fair, William Shatner even said the trip wasn’t as good as he imagined, but compared the trip to a funeral.

“My space trip was supposed to be a celebration party, but it felt like a funeral,” he explained.

He said that when he saw the earth from outer space the feeling that emerged was an extraordinary sense of awe. From above the land looks so beautiful and fascinating. Everything on earth shows its beauty.

“I can see the curvature of the earth, the beige of the desert, the white of the clouds and the blue of the sky. This is life. The beauty of Mother Earth and I have just left her,” explained William Shatner.

On the other hand, when he looked in the opposite direction, all he could see was darkness. William Shatner saw only empty eternal darkness. The darkness he thinks is very different from the darkness that exists on earth.

“All I saw was death in the opposite direction,” said William Shatner.
