Kozhikode: An expatriate and his wife were abducted over a financial transaction. Kurunthottikandi Shafi and his wife Sania, a native of Thamarassery Parapoinpoil, were abducted by the gang that arrived in their car. The incident happened on Friday night around nine o’clock. Sania was later dropped on the road.

It is reported that there have been problems with Shafi and a group for a few days. Three weeks ago, a group had come to Shafi’s house and threatened and committed violence. After this, a complaint was lodged with the Thamarassery police and the police registered a case.

Sania reported the incident to the police after dropping her on the road.
