Executives leave controversial Uniter Association

After t-online.de’s reporting and “Contrasts” about the Uniter association, which had been declared a test case by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the organization fell apart: The man for the charm offensive left.

The controversial special forces association Uniter loses the official who recently wanted to polish up the image with the impression of transparency and gain public confidence: According to information from t-online.de, the head of the Northern District, one of four districts in Germany, resigned and resigned.

Founder Hannibal then called members “to the final sprint”. A message from Friday said: “Grit your teeth and get ahead under the radar”.

The resigned district leader, who calls himself “Duke”, stood for a more open course. He had organized a meeting with t-online.de and the ARD political magazine “Contrasts” and other officials of the association. Even if only first names were given and faces were not allowed to be shown: It was the first time that a larger group had a video interview.

Duke admitted mistakes, Hannibal saw none

Duke had admitted mistakes in the past of the club. He tried to draw a different picture of the association with the comrades-in-arms, which had been declared a test case by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution because of possible anti-constitutional efforts. The Uniter Association, founded by elite forces, only serves to help and exchange among themselves and for social purposes.

But it also became clear: Members do not know much of what is going on in the club. There is a security level model. The members of the association must trust that Hannibal and the board act in their favor. Many apparently fell on Friday from all clouds over the news that the tax office had already revoked the charity in autumn. This became known through a report from the “Tagesschau”. The association plans to move to Switzerland.

For the research of t-online.de and “Contrasts” Duke had made several contacts with other club managers. Founder Andre S. alias Hannibal made it clear that he sees no mistakes in himself and the club.

He apparently wrote this to members on Friday as well: “The association has not been guilty of anything and there is in fact nothing”, it says in a message that t-online.de has. Outside of Germany, you don’t notice anything from the reporting. The message closes with the call to “get ahead under the radar”.

Hannibal did not respond to inquiries. The association announced that this means promoting the statutory activities. Because some charitable projects were behind schedule, “this is sometimes really a final sprint”. The association does not go into the phrase “under the radar”.

The situation worsened according to reports

After Thursday, the situation in the club had come to a head. t-online.de and “Contrasts” had reported that a medical training unit of the association with weapons in the Philippines had trained the national police in addition to emergency services. The National Police is notorious for President Duterte’s human rights violations in the drug war.

Uniter’s medical unit, the so-called Medical Response Unit, has played a major role in the association’s long-term plans, and should also be prepared for missions abroad. Hannibal flatly rejected criticism that the group had also worked for the National Police. He had also spoken of “asymmetrical warfare” against Uniter.

Already a disagreement in November

Background: Uniter is an association privately founded by German special forces, which is associated with right-wing extremist networks mainly because of its founder “Hannibal”. “Hannibal” was in contact with the terror suspect Franco A., who also had a (over the counter) patch from Uniter. The group “Nordkreuz” also emerged from a chat he administered. In the group there were “death lists” with political opponents, often refugee helpers, for a day X after a breakdown of the state order.

In the morning, Duke said information from t-online.de, according to members of his district, that he was leaving office and leaving Uniter. Management personnel were released from his obligations to him. Executive staff apparently followed him, so the future of the district is uncertain. According to a report by the WDR, there had already been a disagreement in November, in which other members of the leadership circle had quit. The association has also lost massive members, from once more than 2,100 the number has dropped to just under 1,000 and continues to decrease.

Duke is apparently doing a kind of last service to the club: he did not want to deny or confirm the resignation at the request of t-online.de and did not answer any further questions. Uniter said that the picture provided by t-online.de after the five-hour interview was not true, statements had been abbreviated. Interviewed members were “in part left on their own initiative to keep further damage away from the association,” says the message.

The text was supplemented with a statement by the association.
