Former kickboxer Rodney G. is sentenced to five years in prison for a series of violent rapes. He has been convicted of raping four women, assaulting three women and attempting to murder one of them.
The judge says the women suffered serious injuries in some cases. Two women lost consciousness in the violence. During a previous seat horrific details have already come out. For example, G. would have squeezed victims’ throats and forced them to drink urine.
All four victims are still experiencing the psychological consequences of what was done to them. The judge called the rapes “violent and humiliating”.
The sentence is lower than the requirement of the Public Prosecution Service: it was ten years in prison. But the court considers fewer facts proven than the Public Prosecution Service. The 47-year-old G. is, among other things, acquitted of two attempted murders.
‘SM-like sex’
The sentence is also lower than the two-year prison sentence per rape. The court has abandoned this guideline: “This would not do justice to the context in which the sexual acts took place and the nuanced picture that has arisen about the suspect.”
G. was in a relationship with the women when he raped them. According to the court, there was “SM-like sex” during the relationships. “That means that the man was in the border area of whether or not sexual acts were punishable.” According to the court, all women stated that G. could also be “sweet”. Moreover, G. himself would realize that he “has a problem”.
