The victim was sitting in his Honda Civic on W. 135th St. near Broadway when the gunman pulled up in a pickup truck around 6 p.m., NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said.

Then The gunman walked around the block and double-parked. behind Espinal for several minutes before getting out of the truck and approaching the victim, Kenny said. “[El] perpetrator approaches the passenger side of the car, opens the door, puts his hand in, there is a fight and shooting”said the chief of detectives.

Espinal, wounded in the chest, was rushed to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, but could not be saved. He lived in Washington Heights, but often drove to Harlem to eat at “Pizza del Valle,” according to a worker who witnessed the shooting.

The murderer “He came with a gun and shot the person in the car twice,” the unidentified employee said. “He was just one guy.”

Espinal had eight prior arrests, including a 2013 federal case for possession of cocaine with intent to sell, Kenny said. He was sentenced to five years in prison for that crime and was released on parole in 2020, records show.

Meanwhile, Holley has served three sentences in state prison. He lives in the Bronx and is now being held without bail for the Harlem homicide.

All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
