The official premiere of “Kurz – Der Film” took place in Vienna’s Artis cinema on Wednesday evening. The launch only became known almost by accident last week. The only fixed calculation was the documentary “Project Ballhausplatz”, which starts on September 21st. In it, filmmaker Kurt Langbein approaches the rise and fall of the ex-chancellor through stories by companions and a collage of video and film archives.

Langbein was also the director of Florian Klenk’s “Der Bauer und der Bobo”, which is not the only reason why the strip is considered rather critical. “Short”, on the other hand, is assessed completely differently. This was already making controversial headlines when a huge advertising poster appeared on the Tangente. The fact that the project surprisingly does not receive any funding is also very atypical for domestic productions.

Double premiere
As opposed to “Today” (more on that here) Sebastian Kurz hasn’t seen the film yet. So it’s also a premiere for him on Wednesday. He was there at the premiere, as was one of his closest companions, the ex-Minister of Tourism Elisabeth Köstinger. Also sighted from the turquoise squad: EU Minister Karoline Edtstadler and Köstinger successors Norbert Totschnig and Labor Minister Martin Kocher. One of Kurz’s best buddy, with whom he even shares the office in downtown Vienna, also did not miss the premiere: ex-finance minister Gernot Blumel.
