Evolve’s P2P servers are back!

Evolve’s original release (Legacy) and Evolve Stage 2 thus attracted more players, but there is a bit of a twist to this story as well.

2K (=Take-Two) released the asymmetric multiplayer game in 2015, where four players had to kill a monster before it became too strong for the hunters. The game’s servers originally operated on a P2P, i.e. peer-to-peer basis, and in addition to the amazing cosmetic microtransactions at the time, there were some additional DLCs, but the servers were shut down at the beginning of 2018, but only the peer-to-peer connections remained alive with missing functions. For example, the publisher is currently focusing on Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.

Nevertheless, they suddenly rose up servers for a completely inexplicable reason, because there really is no reason for Take-Two to resort to this, and right now we can only play the game through Evolve Stage 2, and even here only with a peer-to-peer connection, because that’s how the servers were set up. The weirdness starts with the fact that anyone who doesn’t have Evolve Stage 2 can still play with everyone. If you already have the game on Steam, no problem, you can launch it at any time from Valve’s digital interface.

If you play on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you could try a disc copy at most, and if you don’t have the Blu-ray disc left, it wouldn’t make much sense to search on PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store. And as a NEW player on PC (as the Reddit also highlights) we can only get code from gray sources. THE Steam Stats according to the 18 players seen on July 20, quite a lot of people joined, as there were already 136 by the 22nd.

We would like to point out here that although matchmaking currently works (which can take forever if we are unlucky, and it is better to be mentally prepared for this), on console we could play with a maximum disc copy (and who knows how easy it is), and on PC you can’t just hack it on Steam for a code because the game has stopped selling for a long time. However, the question remains unanswered: what exactly is Take-Two doing here…?
