Giants Software Divorce From Focus For The Next Farming Simulator

Focus Home Interactive published its annual results for 2019-2020, closed on March 30. If all the lights are green for the editor on the finance side, the report announces very bad news, Giants Software has decided to self-publish.

Good news hides bad news. Focus Home Interactive, the main editor of Farming Simulator, has just announced the acquisition of a development studio, its first, which is none other than Deck13, the German developers of “The Surge 2”. We can only rejoice at this purchase by the French publisher. But this announcement is marred by the loss of the goose that lays the golden eggs: Farming Simulator. Giants Software has indeed announced to Focus in early June its intention to self-publish for the next installment. Focus will continue to be responsible for the distribution of the current version.

We already knew the studio’s ambition to want to do everything alone. The heavy milestone of publishing will therefore be crossed and we could only sense it with the opening of an office in Chicago solely for the administrative. Still remember the important role to be played by Focus in the development and commercial success of the franchise since Farming Simulator 2013 in particular, and its aggressive management of the competition during the publication of Pure Farming 2018.
