Evje murder: Asked the parents for forgiveness

The accused Afghan man pleaded guilty on all counts when the trial began on Monday. The man appeared to be deeply remorseful when he explained about the stabbing in court.

– I lost my mind. I loved her very much. “I do not know how it happened,” the defendant said The Friend of the Fatherland which follows the trial in Kristiansand.

The murder on 30 October last year took place after the accused had traveled from Drammen to Evje to meet his ex-girlfriend at the child welfare service for a meeting about the care of the couple’s common daughter. The night after the meeting, the murder happened when Godek asked him to leave, but the man responded by dragging her to the kitchen counter where he grabbed a knife.

– I just wanted to scare her. I was very angry and scared. I closed my eyes and did not see where I stabbed her, said the defendant who according to the indictment stabbed his ex-girlfriend 14 times in the upper body with the knife.

In court, he said that the only thing that mattered now was to get Godek’s parents to forgive him for the injustice he had committed.

– The only thing I want is forgiveness from the parents. I do not care how much punishment I get in prison. I know I made a big mistake. A mistake I can never fix, said the 21-year-old.
