Everyone has their own castle in the middle of nowhere. A ghost town worth millions in Turkey

From afar, the village of Burj Al Baba in Turkey looks like a fabulous mirage – there are more than half a thousand luxurious mansions in several rows, which, thanks to their pointed towers, resemble castles from Disney animation films. The only difference is that there is not a single living soul in these luxurious real estates, reports the portal “Business Insider”.

The village of castles is located in a relatively deep region of the province of Northern Turkey, in the city of Mundurn – from a distance, the castles look like a vision.

Hundreds of identical castles are arranged in meticulous rows and look like a mix of classic French Renaissance castles and Disney’s Cinderella castle.

All are three-story buildings with a round tower and a smaller turret above the entrance. Each three-story palace is valued at $370,000 to $530,000.

This peculiar village, or the so-called “Burj Al Babas”, was built by local Turkish real estate developers “Sarot Group”, which invested 205 million US dollars in its construction.

In recent years, inflation and the exchange rate of the local currency, the Turkish lira, have increased significantly in Turkey, which has also directly affected the real estate market – both local residents and foreign investors and buyers are currently avoiding hasty decisions and purchasing real estate.

In total, “Sarot Group” wanted to build 732 buildings, but it went bankrupt already at the 587th house and the central building, where shops, cinemas, restaurants, conference halls, meeting rooms and also a children’s playground would have been located.
