The number of unemployed in the district of the Freiburg Employment Agency continued to decline in October. At the reporting date, a total of 13,542 women and men were unemployed in the city of Freiburg and in the districts of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald and Emmendingen. That’s 475 less than a month ago. The unemployment rate fell 0.1 points to 3.6 percent. For women and men under the age of 25, it dropped 0.4 points to 2.3%.
However, the decline in unemployment was somewhat weaker than usual in October, the employment agency reports. The demand for labor fell slightly: companies reported 1,073 jobs, 165 (13%) fewer than in September and 213 or 16.6% fewer than a year ago. The greatest need (184 jobs) is in health and social services.
