European Union wants to help Executive fight food crisis in the south of the country – Jornal OPaís

The European Union expressed its interest in discussing new strategies with the Angolan Executive, which guarantee the resilience and food security of communities in the south of the country. Speaking yesterday in the province of Namibe, the ambassador of the European Union in Angola, Rosário Bento Pais, assured the availability of her institution to help the Angolan Government in the search for solutions to respond to the food crisis that has affected, above all, the southern region of the country.

The official pointed to the promotion of diversification of income sources as a crucial measure to ensure family food security, and highlighted the significant progress made by the European Union in partnership with national and international governmental and non-governmental organizations.

“The European Union is available to establish a concrete dialogue in the search for measures that help to overcome the difficulties. We are willing to address other issues and dynamics to contribute to resilience and food security in the south of the country. We will continue to enhance these collaborations, promoting an integrated approach that takes into account the specific needs of local communities,” he said.

He also defended the need to reinforce sustainable agricultural production systems, in order to strengthen crisis response mechanisms. “Food security is not just a question of quantity, it is also, and above all, of quality. It is necessary to guarantee access to nutritious food, educating communities to adopt healthy eating habits”, he said.
