European map with travel destinations is turning greener: e…

From Wednesday, the Netherlands, four Spanish regions, three Swedish regions and a number of French overseas territories will turn red on the travel destination map that the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) updates every week.

Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and San Marino are becoming green travel areas. Germany, Denmark, Croatia and Norway are colored green, with the exception of a number of orange regions. Except for the island of Madeira, which is given a green color code, Portugal is an orange travel area. Greece and Italy no longer have red travel areas, but color green, with the exception of a number of orange regions, such as the islands of Crete and Sicily. Latvia, Slovenia, Monaco, Andorra become orange travel areas. Cyprus, Estonia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Lichtenstein, Vatican City remain orange travel areas. Sweden colors orange, except Småland, Norra Mellansverige and Övre Norrland, which are color coded red.

In Spain, the regions of La Rioja, Aragón, Castile-La Mancha and Andalusia are color-coded red. The French mainland is colored orange, but that color code does not apply to a number of overseas territories. The southernmost department of the island of Corsica and the Caribbean island of Martinique are green. The overseas department of French Guiana (in South America), the island of Réunion (in the Indian Ocean), the archipelago of French Polynesia (in the Pacific Ocean), the northern part of the Caribbean island of Saint Martin and the Caribbean island of Saint -Barthélemy colors red again.

Not much will change for the countries outside the European Union and the Schengen zone. All third countries are colored red. Japan joins the green travel areas of Australia, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, South Korea and Israel on Wednesday. Thailand no longer turns red, but orange.
