Europa League final: Frankfurt City “firmly in Eintracht hands” on Thursday

If Eintracht Frankfurt wins the Europa League final on Wednesday evening, the fans will celebrate the team on the Römerberg on Thursday.

Frankfurt am Main – Eintracht Frankfurt is running in the final of Europa League – for the players and the fans, the game against Glasgow Rangers on Wednesday evening (9 p.m.) in Seville, Spain should be THE game of the year. If the Eagles win, the city center of Frankfurt will officially be “firmly in Eintracht hands” on Thursday.

The city administration of the Main metropolis used this formulation to point out to all day trippers and employees that there could be massive disruptions in the city of Frankfurt on Thursday due to thousands of Eintracht fans celebrating.

Because if the Eintracht Frankfurt players actually win the Europa League trophy on Wednesday evening, they will present themselves and their trophy on Thursday on the balcony of Frankfurt City Hall on Römerberg. The entire square should then be covered by celebrating fans.

The city administration expects “significant traffic disruptions” in this case. A spokesman made a clear statement to the population: “Anyone who is not a football fan and does not want to celebrate with Eintracht is well advised to avoid downtown Frankfurt on this day as a precaution.”

In particular, people should be aware that if Eintracht Frankfurt wins the final, getting there and back by car or public transport “can be difficult or impossible due to the sheer crowds”.

“On Thursday, the city of harmony belongs,” emphasized the spokesman.

The city administration also pointed out that four car parks in downtown Frankfurt would also be closed on Thursday in preparation for a possible event.

The following multi-storey car parks will be closed from 6 a.m. to midnight on Thursday, even in the event of Frankfurt’s defeat:

  • Parkhaus Dom Römer
  • Hauptwache multi-storey car park
  • Parkhaus Kaiserplatz
  • Parkhaus Constables

Due to preparatory structures in the event of a final victory by Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League, there will definitely be “traffic disruptions in the inner city area”.
