EU refused military aid to Armenia

The European Union (EU) refused to provide military aid to Armenia from a special fund designed to increase the defense capacity of EU partners. SIA reports that this was reported by the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonyan.

He complained about the decision of the EU in a meeting with President Andrzej Duda during his visit to Poland.

He said that the Armenian government has asked for “technical assistance” from the European Peace Fund (EPF) created by the EU in 2021 to help developing countries buy military equipment. Through this mechanism, the EU allocates aid to Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia.

“Unfortunately, the EU’s mediation efforts to improve relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the issue of “conflict sensitivity”, were rejected by Armenia,” Simonyan stressed.

He said that this decision of the EU caused protests in his country and that it was not received unequivocally.
