EU reaches consensus on start of training mission for Ukrainian Armed Forces – Czech Prime Minister

The education and training of the Ukrainian army will take place on the territory of the EU Member States.

The leaders of the member states of the European Union reached a consensus on the launch of a training mission for military personnel Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This was stated by UNIAN correspondent, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala at a press conference following an informal summit of 27 leaders from EU member states, which is taking place in Prague.

“I welcome the consensus on a training mission for Ukrainian troops in the EU. This is an important step that will help Ukraine stay at war,” Fiala said.

EU military assistance to Ukraine: details

As previously reported by UNIAN, on 30 August the Vice-President of the European Commission, the EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell, said that the EU is working on defining the parameters for a future mission military to educate and train the Ukrainian army.

Meanwhile, again the head of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola solicited EU states to supply Ukraine tanks.

“Ukraine needs heavy weapons and it needs tanks. It needs weapons. Member countries can supply them as Russia intensifies its invasion and becomes more desperate. We need to respond proportionately to help Ukraine win. this war, “Metsola said.
