According to a bilateral cooperation agreement, Estonian specialists are going to help Lithuanians for the fourth time, but for the first time they are traveling in such a large group.
As emphasized by the Estonian Minister of the Interior Kristians Jānis, Estonia is an important partner of Lithuania in the fight against illegal immigration from Belarus and its support is appreciated.
“Together, we can successfully confront the situation caused by the hybrid attack. It is very important that we are able to help Lithuania, and I hope that our people will return from there with valuable experience,” he said.
Reta Ceisiga, Head of the International Cooperation Office of the Department, also acknowledged that both the three previous groups of staff who have already visited Lithuania and the police in general have gained very valuable experience in curbing mass illegal migration and dealing with its consequences. Estonia will also receive assistance.
