Esslingen’s communal cinema never had to endure a time like this. Now the cinema makers hope that the corona situation will allow easing as soon as possible – and that there might even be a chance for cinema at the castle.

Esslingen – The makers of the communal cinema Esslingen are used to being very committed to the play of light. And when you look back on the 40th anniversary of your “Koki” soon, memories of one or the other difficult situation will certainly come back to life. But the cinema enthusiasts from the Maille had never experienced a time like this: For almost a year, normal operation has been out of the question due to corona, with the new lockdown in autumn the lights had to be switched off for the second time – and nobody knows when and how it will go on. This not only applies to the cinema hall in the Lorch area, but also to the annual cinema in the castle, which is one of the highlights of the annual program. Koki managing directors Sibylle Tejkl and Stefan Hart have not yet given up hope that, unlike last year, something might be possible this time. After all, big screen enthusiasts know from many films: Hope dies last.
