The horror film series “Saw” is not over yet: Lionsgate has already announced an eleventh part. An official date has already been set: September 27, 2024 is the day.

The horror film series “Saw” is getting another film: As the production company Lionsgate has announced, an eleventh part is already in the works. “The game continues,” it says in a corresponding post on Instagram. “Saw XI” will be released in US cinemas on September 27, 2024, which was announced in Roman numerals. Details about the plot or cast have not yet been released.

The last part of the series hit US cinemas in September 2023, and “Saw X” has only been running in Germany since November 30th. The film was received positively by most viewers, even after some previous parts were harshly criticized by fans and observers. The tenth part was quite convincing at the box office and has already easily recouped its production costs of around 100 million US dollars.

Will Kevin Greutert take over the direction again?

The first part of the franchise about the legendary Jigsaw murderer came to cinemas in 2004. James Wan (46) directed the film at the time. In the last part, the filmmaker Kevin Greutert (58) was once again in charge as director, who was already responsible for the editing in the first five parts and “Jigsaw”. He also directed “Saw VI” and “Saw VII” and was on board as a producer on “Saw: Spiral”.

Greutert could be in charge again in the next edition. After all, he declared in early December 2023 in a conversation with the industry portal “Filmstarts”, that one would think about it, but it would not be a decision that would be made hastily. At least Greutert seems to be involved in the “Saw XI” process again.
