Esprit closes fifteen stores in Belgium, 148 employees lose jobs

Esprit closes fifteen stores in Belgium, 148 employees lose jobs, the BBTK union said on Monday evening.

BBTK representative Inge De Beul says in an initial response that things have been going badly for Esprit stores in our country for some time, some of which were operating at a loss. “The fifteen retail stores are closing, but the stores with independent operators can continue.” A curator will be appointed on Tuesday.

Fifteen stores close. The one on the Meir, among others, is threatened. A total of 148 employees would lose their jobs. It is not the first time that Esprit has had bad reputations in our country. Shops and jobs were also cut in 2018.

Esprit was founded in California in 1968 and creates collections for men, women and children. But due to increasing competition, the clothing brand has found it increasingly difficult in recent years.
