Boris Itzkovich Escobar, better known as drag queen Envy Peru, notices that he still has something to process after being assaulted by a group of boys in Amsterdam in July. “I have to give it a place.”
Escobar, the winner of the first season of Drag Race Holland, says to have “dear people” around them. “It’s going well. It’s getting better. After rain comes sunshine,” says the artist on the website of RTL.
In July, Escobar was insulted, pushed and threatened with a weapon on the bus to Amsterdam Central Station. Once at the station, one of the boys ran up to the performer and kicked him to the ground. The group ran away after four women confronted them.
When the assault took place, Escobar was not “decked out”. “I was just Boris.”
“What happened to me has happened, it’s terrible. But it’s nothing new,” continues Escobar. “It happens every day, all over the world. And that just has to stop at some point. You have to keep your hands off others.”
