Entrepreneur rehabilitates roads in Munder

Rehabilitation work was carried out on several roads in the Munder resort last weekend. During these two days, 7 streets were sanded and leveled by Ring Harbor Real Estate Developer. This is an allotment project in Suriname, which extends from the Ring Road to the rear of the Chiragali project. It covers about 35 hectares.

In view of the fact that local residents often complained about the bad roads, the district council members wrote a letter to the Surinamese Ministry of Public Works. A 2 tonne pick-up was made available, after which the district council members then started looking for sponsors.

Entrepreneur Joël Terzol of Ring Harbor Real Estate Developer was willing to support. “Mr. Terzol has deployed his own machines and has more than 120 cubic meters of shell sand for leveling the streets,” says Jiten Bisseser, Munder’s district council chairman. “Nothing has been done to these roads for almost 10 years. We are now trying to solve people’s problems together with the ministry. The discharges will also be addressed shortly,” he assured. A proposal has also been made to the ministry to pave the streets.

Entrepreneur Terzol is also a citizen of this jurisdiction. “My father is from Charlesburg. As a little boy I spent many hours in these streets and that’s why I want to give something back to the neighborhood,” he says. “The narrow streets have received little attention lately. We fill this with equivalent shell sand and a tractor will then smooth the material. We don’t look at the costs, because it is worth the neighborhood,” says Terzol.

District Commissioner Ricardo Bhola of Paramaribo North-East expressed his thanks to the entrepreneur for his service to the residents of Munder. “My compliments to the district council members, who serve society every day. The residents can be proud that there are district council members who sacrifice their Sundays. I’m glad we had help from entrepreneur Terzol. A man who is selflessly committed to upgrading Munder,” said the mayor, who is also from the area.

“The street is now neatly leveled. There is a sewerage problem and there is no street lighting. We will sit down with the district and district councilors and the Minister of Public Works to see how we can make sure that the sewage goes away.”
