It’s the comeback of the year! Entertainer Stefan Raab (57) is returning from show retirement this year at least for one evening. On September 14th he will get into the ring for the third time with ex-professional boxer Regina Halmich (47).
And one thing is already certain: his fans still want to see him!

Tickets for the TV heavyweight boxing match were in great demand. After just two hours, the approximately 15,000 seats in the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf were sold out, says hall operator “D.LIVE”. Raab fills the hall where world stars like Nial Horan and Bryan Adams play concerts in front of thousands of screaming fans.
Regina Halmich doesn’t want her fight against the entertainer to be misunderstood as a serious sporting event. “It’s important to me that you see the event for exactly what it is: it’s entertainment. There is no real boxing art required here,” said the Karlsruhe native to the sport1 channel.
“People want to be entertained – and you can see that in the feedback,” says Halmich. “Of course there is always the occasional person who complains: “Why do we have to do this now?” But the counter-argument is that 15,000 tickets are gone within two hours. Some of the servers collapsed.”

April Fool’s joke or real comeback?
According to Halmich, this shows: “People really crave entertainment. And I believe that this is also because we live in very difficult times. It ranges from poor economic conditions to wars. Life isn’t so easy anymore.”
Raab announced the boxing match against Halmich at the end of March with two mysterious videos on his Instagram channel. Many initially thought the videos were an April Fool’s joke, but the “Final Fight” appears to actually be happening.

“When the request came, I was blown away. I simply didn’t expect that,” said the athlete. Raab had already taken a beating in 2001 and 2007 and lost the fight. In the first fight his opponent broke his nose.
