Encrypted e-mail service ProtonMail releases a secure calendar service | NOW

ProtonMail has released the encrypted calendar service ProtonCalendar for paying members of its mail service. That way only participants have access to appointments.

For the time being, this is a public beta for people with a paid ProtonMail subscription. Ultimately, ProtonMail plans to officially release the service, also for free users. It is not yet known when.

The calendar uses end-to-end encryption. With this, the data in the agenda can only be seen by the creator of an appointment and other participants.

“For a long time you had to lose your schedule with services of large companies, but they use the information to offer advertisements,” writes ProtonMail. But that is different in ProtonCalendar. “No other third party, not even ProtonMail, can view the details of an appointment.”

At this time, people can use the calendar to schedule and delete appointments, set reminders, and return appointments. More functions will be added later. The ProtonCalendar only works on the web and will be available on iOS and Android this year.
