ABU DHABI, 25th January, 2020 (WAM) — His Excellency Majid Ali Al Mansouri, Secretary-General of the Emirates Falconers Club, and Hiroshi Fujii, Director of “Inpex-Judco” Foundation, Senior Vice President of “Inpex” projects in Abu Dhabi, signed yesterday a memorandum of understanding aimed at promoting and supporting friendship programs, student exchange and cultural cooperation between the two countries. The signing was attended by Takayuki Yoda, CEO of the Japanese company “Inpex”, a leader in oil and gas development and production projects, and Toshiaki Kitamura, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company.

According to the memorandum, and with joint contribution and cooperation between the UAE and Japan, participation will take place in falconry activities and events, and the goals of preserving human cultural heritage, preserving authentic traditions and promoting sustainable hunting will be defined under the supervision of experts and specialists in falconry from both friendly countries.

Japanese students will be able to train and learn about the traditions of authentic Arabian falconry at the Mohammed bin Zayed School of Falconry and Desert Physiognomy, which was established in 2016 under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and President of the Emirates Falconers Club, as the first leading platform specialized in the world. Teaching the art of Arabian falconry, physiognomy and traditions of living in the desert.

The Japanese Sawa Falconry School will also receive Emirati students and falconers, with the aim of getting to know the unique Japanese falconry, which is of ancient origin and whose traditions are reflected through a distinctive set of tools and a number of schools and methods rooted in the cultural heritage of Japan.

His Excellency Majid Ali Al Mansouri affirmed that the friendship relations between the UAE and Japan have existed and are solid for more than half a century, and today they go beyond the stage of cooperation to a strategic partnership that has entered a new stage in recent years, and cultural heritage projects are one of these partnerships.

On the occasion of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Emirates Falconers Club, the Japanese delegation toured the Mohammed bin Zayed School for Falconry and Desert Physiognomy, where members of the delegation praised the efforts and achievements of Abu Dhabi and the UAE in preserving heritage and protecting wildlife through sustainable hunting, expressing their admiration for the school’s programs that organize courses Specialized training in falconry for all age groups to teach them the art of falconry.
