Emergency services find speakers with baby crying in underground garbage containers: ‘These are not jokes’ | Zoetermeer

Emergency services rushed to various underground garbage containers in Zoetermeer on Friday and Saturday after bystanders heard baby crying. In the end, the sounds turned out to be from Bluetooth speakers, the police spokesperson confirmed.

The first report was Friday afternoon in a container at the Sanne van Havelteplein. On Saturday morning, the Van Stolberglaan was hit again. Those locations are about a kilometer apart. The police have confiscated the speakers and are investigating how they ended up here and whether they were deliberately thrown into the containers by someone.

The fire brigade first had to remove many bags of household waste from the containers before the perpetrators were found. “We take it very seriously when there are reports of crying baby noises,” said the police spokeswoman. “These are not things you joke about.”

Police are calling on people to report if they see anything suspicious around the containers.

Andere containers

Emergency services also went out on Friday evening to investigate a garbage container in Rozenburg after someone reported baby noises. The fire brigade erred in safety and also checked other containers, but a baby was not found there either. This morning there was also a report of baby noises in Delft. Nothing was found there either.

At a primary school in Zoetermeer, a child and a man had to be freed from a container on Friday afternoon. The child got stuck and so did the man who tried to save the child. The fire brigade finally got the two can liberate.

Police have yet to say anything about a possible connection between the incidents.

Newborn girl found

At the beginning of this year, a newborn girl was found in an underground garbage container in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. A woman heard the baby’s cry as she threw away her garbage bags. The fire brigade managed to get the child, who was in a large yellow Jumbo shopping bag, out of the container. The police were able to arrest the minor parents a few days later. In August, police in Germany arrested a woman suspected of leaving her baby in a dumpster in 2014 as well.
