Elizabeth Holmes Sentenced to 11 Years in Prison for Theranos Fraud: The Fall of America’s Youngest Self-Made Woman Billionaire

After several escapes, Elizabeth Holmes finally started the punishment prison for 11 years and three months. The former one of the richest youngest women in the world was seen wearing prison clothes when she was recently visited by her family.

In January 2022, Holmes was convicted of defrauding investors at blood-testing startup Theranos. Holmes promises Theranos can diagnose diseases with a single drop of blood, but the device doesn’t work as claimed. In November 2022, the judge sentenced Holmes to 11 years and 3 months in prison.

But Holmes and his team of lawyers continue to look for ways so that the 39-year-old woman doesn’t need to be jailed while her appeals process is ongoing. But in the end the attempt failed and Holmes had to feel the cold of the land.


Luck Elizabeth Holmes completely changed. In 2015, her wealth exceeded USD 4.5 billion and topped the Forbes ranking of America’s Richest Self Made Women or the richest independent female entrepreneur. However, the Theranos case lost all of his wealth and now he has to spend a long time in prison.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed that Holmes was being held at FPC Bryan which is located about 160 km from the city of Houston. The prison houses around 655 female inmates who while there are required to work in a canteen or manufacturing facility.

Not long ago, Elizabeth Holmes was visited by her family. He was wearing a gray prison suit. Holmes was reportedly emotional during the seven-hour reunion with his family. She is seen wearing a prison uniform walking with her husband, William Evans, and her parents, Christian and Noel, are also visible.

Elizabeth Holmes and Evans have been blessed with two children. He is allowed one visit per week from loved ones. While in prison Holmes could not access the internet but he was able to buy a radio or MP3 player, and in his spare time he could take part in activities such as games and fine arts.
