High distinction: Cuxhaven doctor nominated for “German Medical Award”

The “German Medical Award” is an institution that has set itself the goal of recognizing doctors for their patient-oriented and outstanding services. Dr. Orhan Kahraman, Head of the Center for General and Visceral Surgery in Cuxhaven / Nordenham and Medical Director of the Helios Klinik Wesermarsch, was nominated for the award this year.

“Interlocking for the benefit of the patient”: That was the heading when the Center for General and Visceral Surgery was set up at the Helios locations in Cuxhaven and Nordenham. The center was founded on September 1st with the aim of utilizing professional expertise in order to offer patients near-to-home care. With this concept, Dr. Orhan Kahraman nominated for the “German Medical Award”. In addition to doctors, physicians and clinics, this award also honors innovative companies from the health sector. The main focus of this award is on special commitment and progressive patient care.

The commitment of Dr. Kahraman in the course of establishing the center was recognized for the award as part of this nomination. Dr. Kahraman himself is pleased about the nomination: “With the center I would like to offer my patients cross-location, tailor-made and quality-assured surgery and thus enable access to top-quality medicine close to home. The nomination for the German Medical Award is also a special highlight,” he said Visceral Surgery Expert Dr. Orhan Kahraman.

Helios clinics

The hospital operator Helios, a subsidiary of the medical technology and healthcare group Fresenius, employs around 110,000 people. In Germany, Helios has 86 clinics, 123 medical care centers (MVZ) and seven prevention centers. In Cuxhaven, Helios operates the Seehospital Sahlenburg and an MVZ in addition to the city hospital.

The Helios Clinic Cuxhaven has (as of 2019) ten specialist departments and 191 beds. Over 10,000 inpatient and around 25,000 outpatient cases are treated every year. Helios cares for 5.6 million patients throughout Germany, 4.4 million of them as outpatients. Helios employs almost 69,000 people in Germany and generated sales of around six billion euros in 2019.
