When With Elina is on her period, she is congratulated on her pregnancy. When Elina seeks help from a doctor for the immense pain that takes away her consciousness, she is referred to a psychiatrist.
Elina tells tonight’s Friday doc My pain is beyond belief from endometriosis.
– It feels like a rag has been twisted, pulled into a bundle. And then, as if struck by a knife at the same time, Elina describes her endometriosis pains.
Elina has suffered from painful periods since she was a child. It took her 22 years to get a diagnosis of endometriosis, as one doctor after another ignored her symptoms.
– My favorite is when one doctor stated that “endometriosis is a disease of you modern women, when you don’t have children”, says Elina.
In the end, the cyst in Elina’s ovaries was operated on. After the operation, the doctor told Elina that several deep endometriosis foci were found in her, some of which grow through the rectum.
