Elections 2020. Rafał Trzaskowski responds to the demands of Szymon Hołownia

– Mr Szymon, I agree with you in everything and these postulates will be part of my program – said Trzaskowski turning to Hołownia. He also thanked him “for the hard work he did and for mobilizing many people who had not voted so far.” Let us remind you that the independent presidential candidate obtained 13.87 percent in Sunday voting. and took third place.

“Minimum non-party presidency”

Hołownia today during the press conference encouraged to participate in the second round of presidential elections and announced that he would personally vote “against the vision presented by Andrzej Duda and his party PiS”. At the same time, he admitted that he had received an invitation to interview from Rafał Trzaskowski and, in this connection, would present to him his postulates of “minimum non-partisan presidency”.

– First, three veto: 1. Democratic veto, 2. Green veto, 3. Local government veto – said Hołownia. The second condition is the employment of four employees from outside the political parties in the presidential office. The third condition is the application to the Supreme Audit Office for verification of legality and economy in companies. – The fourth point is the establishment of a local government council, a body that will advise him and will include representatives of all local councilors, so that the local government has representation – he added.

Trzaskowski’s assurance. “It will be a hard veto”

Trzaskowski emphasized that as a local government official it is not necessary to convince him that “local government must be defended”. – It is known that President Kaczyński tells the president to target us and we know what they are preparing – they do not like local government officials and will try to destroy us – he said.

You do not need to convince me that you have to fight the climate catastrophe, that there must be a hard green veto, that it must be a hard democratic veto, where the current power and current president from PiS are trying to break the constitution, politicize the institutions. Here it will be a hard veto and a hard “we have enough” – said Trzaskowski.

Referring to the question of Hołownia, whether he will ensure that the president’s office is apolitical, Trzaskowski replied: “of course it is.”

– As today in Warsaw I work with very different people, very few of them have party ID – most of them do not have it, the majority are social workers, specialists. It will be exactly the same in the office of the President of the Republic of Poland – he declared.

Trzaskowski emphasized that “you have to surround yourself with specialists, social activists, people of good will, people who know politics as well, but it must be an independent office, because it will be an independent president.”

Addressing other candidates from the opposition to date, Trzaskowski assured that he would listen to their postulates and that they would also become part of his program. – I am talking today about freedom for entrepreneurs, that the state should not be too oppressive. Hence the tax veto – he noted. He assured that his program would be enriched with things important for other candidates. – Also when it comes to the village program, also when it comes to fighting everyone who is excluded – said Trzaskowski.
