Temperatures and times
It is still very cool in Barcelona, the thermometer only shows around seven degrees. All the more impressive that Sainz (currently P1) has already driven a 1: 18.4. For comparison: On the first day of testing in 2019 a year ago, Vettel was the fastest man with a 1: 18.1 – just three tenths faster. So this year it should be much faster on day 1. Because the route is not yet in an ideal condition, and the pilots and teams are still quite reserved.
By the way, the pole time at the 2019 Spanish GP was 1: 15.4. We will not see such times today (yet).

Small cameras on the AlphaTauri
You only see such games during test drives. Small cameras were attached to the nose on the left and right of the AT01. Aerodynamically a disadvantage, of course, but this is about collecting images from the front wing. Such small cameras and similar tricks should be discovered in several teams over the course of the two weeks in Barcelona. Of course, our colleagues on site keep their eyes open!

Finally a picture of the new Renault
We had to wait a long time, now we finally get the first pictures of the complete Renault R.S.20. Previously, it was only visible in sections. There was no real launch either – not even this morning. We have no idea why Renault has made the car so secret. There are almost only two options: Either he is now particularly fast or particularly slow 😉 Of course we keep an eye on that.

Until the first relevant times come …
… by the way it should take. First of all, there are installation rounds, as is known, for example, from the training sessions on a Grand Prix Friday. Many teams also move out with measuring grids in the morning (see picture), because the main thing now is to confirm the aerodynamic data collected in the wind tunnel. One could also speak of the “moment of truth”. Because if the correlation between the wind tunnel and the route doesn’t match, then you have a pretty big problem …
