The Salvadoran Committee “El Piche”, an organization made up of Salvadorans residing in the United States, spoke on Friday through a statement in the case of Andy Lovos, who could not participate in the presentation of the band El Salvador Grande as its People, in the Parade of the Roses, and for attacks that the organization has received after what happened.
“We regret the incident with Andy, unfortunate for him, it was equally devastating for the band members who sacrificed and spent months to see their dignified representation in the Rose Parade overshadowed,” the statement said.
Also in the letter it is clarified that El Piche is an impartial, neutral independent and non-partisan organization, so they did not accept government requirements, such as changing the country brand logo of the previous government, because it was not possible.
“Now we are receiving a series of attacks, threats that attempt to discredit our organization,” he denounces.
For its part, the president of El Piche, Enot Rubio, He said in an interview with Telemundo that this controversy has a political tint and sees with sadness that this happens, at the same time reiterates that they are 24 years taking development to several communities in El Salvador, time in which they have worked with the different government administrations .
“It saddens me greatly because what we have always wanted is to highlight the good of our country. We have done the best job to bring development to each of the communities that have benefited, ”he said.
What happened to Andy?
The statement explains that to be part of the band it was required to make a notarized affidavit about the band’s agreements, which Andy made and that allowed him to participate in an event held in September 2019, in the United States, along with other young people.
But in December, Andy breached the affidavit and was informed that he would be removed from the band and would not participate in the Rose Parade, in January 2020, however, Andy arrived in Los Angeles and negotiated with the directors to participate, which He was granted and allowed to stay at the hotel with the other members, according to the statement.
However, Andy declined to stay at the hotel and still He participated in two events prior to the parade. But, in which he could not participate was in the Parade of the Roses “for not being part of the band and not counting the documentation required by the organizers of the Parade,” explains the statement.
The Pasadena Roses Tournament did not approve Andy because he did not have student medical authorization, a requirement that all band members must meet, the document said.
Enot Rubio, told El Diario de Hoy, that Andy did not travel with the band and was out because he was “disrespectful, undisciplined and committed disciplinary offenses,” although he did not detail what those faults were. He said he had nothing to do with being allowed to enter the Las Rosas Parade, when a sherif did not allow him access to join the band’s group.
“I had nothing to do with being prevented from entering the parade, here in the United States things do not work as in El Salvador, Andy was not on the list, did not travel in the group and also needed a health record that the authorities in this country demand to participate in these types of events, ”Rubio said.
About the funds received for cover travel expenses, in the statement it is clarified that as a Salvadoran Committee El Piche they did not receive “not a penny in cash” and that the cost of accommodation for the youth was paid directly by a Salvadoran financial company and that there was no transaction between the committee and the sponsoring company .
In the case of air tickets, he explains that the funds were sponsored by the Government of El Salvador through a check payable to the organization and is presented to the travel agency to pay for the tickets.
