Nine people, eight women and one man, were indicted in Rennes on Friday November 19 for aggravated pimping, after the dismantling of a prostitution network in the Rennes metropolis (Ille-et-Vilaine), indicates the public prosecutor To France Bleu Armorique. A judicial investigation was opened on May 27, 2021. Fourteen people were taken into custody as part of this investigation. Nine were ultimately indicted: eight women aged 26 to 48 and a man aged 49.
The defendants are suspected of having prostituted several women in at least one accommodation in the Bréquigny district in Rennes. The Rennes departmental security police observed “the regular presence of young women of South American origin”, explains prosecutor Philippe Astruc. The people observed at the scene are directly linked to announcements of “paid sex services” on sites dedicated to this type of advertisement.
The investigation carried out over several months made it possible to establish the existence of a highly organized prostitution network with the participation of a “henchman”. The latter was responsible for ensuring the transport of women and managing the rental “prostitution sites”. He was also in charge of transferring money from traffic via money orders in Spain and South America. Investigators seized 15,850 euros during a search and discovered that 219,000 euros were deposited in the bank.
