Education: money for business school

The district pays for the extension

Helga Grabinger, director of the municipal business school, had to wait a long time Send (WISS), until the time had come: The district committee for education, culture and sport should now debate whether the district would provide a corresponding sum of money for the planned extension or not. But the committee did not discuss, the matter was clear to everyone: Of course there would be money – and Helga Grabinger could go back to work satisfied. It was worth the wait.

As reported, the once starving school has clearly developed for the better. The number of schoolchildren has increased strongly; 180 boys and girls are currently attending WISS. Since the school is now open from the 6th grade – that was not the case in the past – Helga Grabinger expects a further significant increase. In order to accommodate everyone in the future, an extension with four classrooms and two adjoining rooms is needed. The Braunger Wörtz architecture firm has estimated the cost of the expansion at around 2.6 million euros. There is likely to be a grant of 50 percent for this sum.

So far, the district has borne 85 percent of the costs of running the school and building maintenance. Furthermore, there is no agreement with the city of Senden on construction investments. However, when the school was built in 1993, the district contributed 85 percent of the costs. He took over 7.3 million euros. That is why there was now no debate about whether and how much the district should shell out for the extension: It bears 85 percent of the remaining costs, after deducting the state subsidy. The bottom line is 1.1 million euros. In the meeting documents for the committee it says: “For the educational region of the district of Neu-Ulm, WISS as the only representative of its type of school is a great enrichment”. The district committee also agreed on Friday. (hip)
