The emergency services have flocked to the David Lloyd fitness center at Kattenbroek in Edegem on Friday. There, a sauna had overheated. About eighty customers were evacuated.

The automatic sprinkler system was activated and several fire brigades rushed to the scene, but the situation was very quickly under control. Nobody was hurt.
The customers present were temporarily accommodated in the tennis hall as a precaution, but were allowed back inside fairly quickly. Only the sauna area remained closed, the rest of the complex was released.
In 2017, a fire already caused hundreds of thousands of euros in damage in the luxurious fitness center. Even then a fire started in the sauna. The damage after this incident is probably a lot less serious.
