Bogotá issued, for the first time, public debt bonds to finance higher education for 20,000 young people through the program ‘Young people to the U’. The Ministry of Education, the Agency for Higher Education, Science and Technology (Atenea) and the higher education institutions (IES), with local development funds, make the contributions to cover the enrollment in the programs that they selected during the call in public and private institutions, or in those that were admitted through additional quotas from official institutions.

With the current call, which would begin training in the first semester of 2022, it is expected to benefit about 4,000 young people, which will add to the 8,000 benefited in 2021.
How many resources are going to be used through bonds to finance higher education for young people?
Through social bonds, issued in the Colombian stock exchange, 944,899,000 pesos will be allocated to finance higher education for young people.
How many emissions are expected to be carried out?
The bond placement is planned in four tranches: the first already took place on December 2, and guarantees more than 5,500 quotas out of the total of 20,000 for the next three years.

How much is the aid to the beneficiary?

If the application was approved in a strategy of permanence, the local development funds, through the Secretary of Education-Atenea, will manage the transfer of economic support to the account Nequi, Movii The Daviplata indicated by the beneficiary. What requirements must a young person meet who wants to aspire to financing?

-Be a high school graduate from a public or private school in Bogotá.
-Be a high school graduate from a public or private school outside of Bogotá, but prove residence in the city.

-Being under 28 years old.
-Not have been enrolled in a higher education program in the first and second semesters of 2021.

-Register for the call for the program through the links defined in the terms of the call and on the dates stipulated for its completion.
-Not having withdrawn from the ‘Jóvenes a la U’ program on its first call after having legalized the benefit.
