Bruno SAPIN : “Surprise. But the biggest surprise was above all the abstention rate (N.D.L.R.: almost 67%, with only 4,204 voters out of 13,092 registered). Unheard of in Yutz even if it was the case everywhere in France. After, on the result itself, well let’s say we are almost tied. I was also surprised that the priority opponent would be the Renewal Yussois list, I was thinking more of the environmental list. ”

Looking back, how do you analyze this result?

“We analyzed, you can imagine. We talked with people to understand why in certain neighborhoods we were a little behind. After I come back to the abstention, many told us that they did not go to vote for fear of the Covid, others told us that they only voted in the second round, etc. There may also be some projects or things that are underway that have made that. “

Precisely, do you think that the voters made you pay for the real estate projects and in particular that of the Stockholm district?

“It’s only in this area. This probably explains why we are behind this polling station. But the problem with this project is that it was not well understood. It has also not been explained enough on our side, to make people understand that, first, it is a private project and not a municipal one. Second, it’s not the same anymore. There is no longer any building in the part called the hollow “tooth” All that is settled but some people continue and insist that “this is electoral propaganda”, that “when it is elected, he will still do what he wants ”. No, I always did what I said. And when it’s written, I do what’s written. Finally, to close the real estate and construction topic, during the 2016 campaign, I said that the city of Yutz was a bit under construction everywhere. So, I said that between 2016 and 2020, the city must stop expanding and let the projects in progress take place. Today, I challenge anyone to find, between 2016 and 2020, a municipal project that I, myself, launched. All current projects are those launched by the previous municipality. How is this second round different from the one you were prepared for?

“Indeed, when we prepare for a second round, we know that we have a week in between. There, we had three or four months. For two and a half months, I took care of the health crisis. I didn’t work on the campaign at all but then at all. Mr. Landragin’s list was also muted for three months. And there is another list, that of Mrs. Pouget, who has constantly been involved in political recovery. Today we started, we are in full preparation. The first documents will start coming out within a week. We’re going to do a real campaign even if we know it may be more digital. But we also want a presence on the ground because there are a lot of truths to restore. “

The Better Living in Yutz list reported on a meeting with you and some of your running mates for a possible merger. Can you tell us more?

“The meeting proposal comes from the Landragin list. We met in December with three people from his team and three from our list. We discussed, indeed on our respective projects. Has the health crisis changed your political project and if so, how?

“It has not changed it in substance, everything we plan to do in terms of investments and others. She did not change our program but she may have changed some ways of doing tomorrow, but that will be the daily life that will tell us. “

The next mayor of Yutz will also have to manage the crisis in the short term. How do you prepare for it?

“We are ready since we have been in it from the start so for me it will be the continuity of what we are experiencing today. When we were in the midst of a crisis, we spent, most certainly, as many elected officials as the services, much more time working, even if it was at our homes, than in normal times. Today we’re almost broken in. It was a very complicated job, because unique, never seen. We had no experience on this. We did with the means at hand. “
