Ebrahim Raisi The Sadistic Executioner Becomes Iran’s New President

TEHERAN – Ibrahim Raisi , ultraconservative scholars Iran , on Saturday (19/6/2021) was reported to have won the presidential election (pilpres) in the country even before the official results were announced.

Raisi was dubbed the “sadistic executioner” and “the butcher of 1998” for his role as a key member of the so-called “Death Commission”, a commission that ordered thousands of people to be killed in the 1988 massacre.

Two rival presidential candidates who are also from the ultraconservative camp, Mohsen Rezai and Amirhossein Ghazizadeh-Hashemi, have congratulated Raisi.

Iran’s moderate president, Hassan Rouhani, said his successor had been chosen in Friday’s vote. However, he did not call Raisi the winner.

“I congratulate the people on their choice,” Rouhani said. “My official congratulations will come later, but we know who got enough votes in this election and who was elected today by the people.”

“I congratulate…Raisi, chosen by the nation,” said Ghazizadeh-Hashemi, as quoted by AFP.

Rezai tweeted that he hoped Raisi could build a strong and popular government to solve the country’s problems.

The only reformist presidential candidate in Iran’s presidential election this time is former central bank governor Abdolnasser Hemmati. He also congratulated Raisi.
