The most important player in any offense is the quarterback. He determines how the ball is brought forward. Here he either throws a pass, passes the ball to the running back or runs himself. If the quarterback decides to pass, it is usually caught by a wide receiver who tries to sprint with the ball into the end zone. In the case of running plays, on the other hand, the running back is used, whose task it is to make your way through the defense in order to get to the end zone. The fullback ensures that the opponents cannot get at him. Tailback and halfback take on similar tasks as the running back. Tight ends can be used for both passes and as defenders on the line of scrimmage. In the offensive line, guards and tackles ensure that the defensive line does not penetrate to the quarterback, while the center throws the ball to the quarterback with a snap at the beginning of the play.
