Dutchman (27) died after assault on Mallorca

The group of friends of the 27-year-old Dutch victim was attacked by Dutch tourists last Wednesday night around 02.30 in the seaside resort of Playa de Palma.

The man was kicked in the head for no reason, suffered brain damage and was in intensive care for days, where he died yesterday. Three friends suffered minor injuries from the fight, one person was knocked unconscious.


The group of friends was attacked by a group of nine Dutch tourists, the Spanish police reported last Saturday. The Dutch caused riots for hours in a nightclub, from which they were subsequently evicted. Once on the street, the tourists attacked other Dutch holidaymakers.

Nine suspects

A camera was placed at the scene of the assault and the police were able to identify all nine suspects. It concerns Dutch people between 18 and 20 years old. One Dutchman has already been arrested in Mallorca in connection with the incident.

He was arrested when he returned the keys to the rental house in El Arenal where the group was staying. The others had taken a flight back to the Netherlands as soon as possible.

International Arrest Warrant

An international arrest warrant has been issued for the eight others. If they are arrested, they can be suspected of murder or manslaughter in Spain.
