Düsseldorf. The banks of the Rhine in Düsseldorf is one of the most beautiful places in the state capital for locals and tourists, especially in summer.

“The common footpath and bike path along the Joseph-Beuys-Ufer is now a narrow point between the high-quality design of the Rhine embankment promenade to the south and the wide side area in the area of the Rhine terrace in the north,” explains Düsseldorf’s Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller. The new cycle path will run separately from pedestrians and will “further enhance the attractive cycle route”.

“In the course of the expansion of the main cycle network, the regulatory and traffic committee decided to redistribute the road space in this section for a continuous cycle path connection in order to gain more space in the side room,” explains Jochen Kral, Düsseldorf’s new mobility network. The newly created space will then be used to expand the cycle path.
Between Fritz-Roeber-Straße and the entrance to Tonhallen-Ufer (Fortuna Büdchen) and Oederallee between Joseph-Beuys-Ufer and entrance to Tonhalle, an area now used as a lane can be completely assigned to the side room in the entire section. This is not intended to restrict car traffic. (gb)
