The drugstore chain dm is testing a new parcel service. Customers can have their parcels delivered to one of over 150 branches in Berlin, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It does not matter in which online shop you ordered and with which parcel service provider the goods are shipped.
If you use the service, you can collect your parcels with your ID card during normal opening hours. Customers can also hand in their DHL returns in the dm stores; these are then handed over to the parcel service. The service is free.
This is how the new service from dm works
“As a rule, parcels from various service providers – such as DHL, DPD, Hermes or UPS – have to be picked up at different locations. The new dm service saves you time and money,” said Christoph Werner, chairman of the dm management board , To use the service, consumers state their name and the addition “dm-drogerie markt” when ordering as a recipient. Enter the address of the desired dm store as the delivery address. After delivery of the package, you have seven working days to collect your package. Customers only need to contact one of the dm employees for this. They have a special app on their employee smartphones to handle the service.
Shipments with the payment method cash on delivery and those weighing over 15 kilograms are excluded from the parcel service. The content may not exceed a value of 500 euros.
Retail chains are also increasingly offering services
Drugstore chains and supermarkets are also becoming service providers in other areas. For example, Rewe and dm already offer a cleaning service, also for testing purposes. In some branches, dirty shirts and stained clothes are accepted for cleaning. They cooperate with online laundries. Another offer: Many retail chains allow customers to withdraw money at the checkout during their shopping.
