Drug driver drove to the police to pick up friend

HÖRSCHING. A 23-year-old from Wels has lost his driver’s license and wanted to pick up his 21-year-old friend who was at the police station for drug use by car. The only unfortunate thing was that the 23-year-old also had a positive drug test.

The 21-year-old, also from Wels, drove his car on the B1 in the direction of Marchtrenk at around 5 p.m., but was caught on the phone by a police patrol at the wheel. During a driver and vehicle check that was carried out, clear symptoms of addictive substance impairment could be perceived. A rapid drug test that was carried out afterwards also showed positive results for THC. A clinical examination confirmed that the young man was unable to drive, his driver’s license was taken away and he was not allowed to continue driving.

Freund had also used drugs

The 21-year-old then notified a friend who was supposed to pick him up from the police station. However, the 23-year-old friend had also used drugs, which did not go unnoticed by the police officers. A voluntary rapid drug test also showed positive results for THC. He was also determined to be unfit to drive, and again the driver’s license was provisionally withdrawn and no further driving was prohibited.
