Dresden (dpa) – The volleyball players from Dresdner SC fulfilled their duty on the eighth Bundesliga match day and won 3-1 (22:25, 25:19, 25:22, 25:15) against the still winless Ladies in Black Aachen . Coach Alexander Waibl’s team celebrated their twelfth win in a row across all competitions. The second leg of the round of 16 of the CEV Cup in Schwerin is scheduled for Tuesday.
The Dresden women initially struggled to find their rhythm in front of 2,833 spectators. After the difficult CEV Cup game against Schwerin on Wednesday, Waibl’s protégés seemed a bit tired physically and mentally and made too many easy mistakes.
In the second section, the DSC ladies improved, served more powerfully, stabilized reception and defense and now also acted more efficiently in attack. With two series of serves from Grace Frohling and Sarah Straube they took a decisive lead. The hosts were already leading by five points in the third round, but Aachen fought back. In crunch time, however, the DSC team held its nerve and confidently dictated the action in the fourth section with powerful tasks, and also acted more consistently at a higher level than the opponent in receiving and defending. After 97 minutes the victory was secured.
