Dr. Iliev from Bern with hot news about Omicron and the vaccines of “Pfizer” and “Modern”

The number of those infected with COVID-19 is decreasing, but for the last three months we have had a consistently high level of deaths every day, said Dr. Asparuh Iliev on Nova TV.

According to him, vaccination continues to be the main element in the fight against the virus. The Bulgarian government has ordered the Novavax vaccine, which will also come to Bulgaria.

“With the vaccines we have, one can get Omicron, but the severe course of the disease in people with normal immunity in people who have been vaccinated is out of the question,” said the doctor, who runs a laboratory in Bern.

“With the third booster dose of vaccine, we have a protection against severe disease, which is over 80%. We can be completely calm at least for the first 4-5 months of its installation. We have data that even for a longer period after that the protection against severe leaks is very high. At two doses the effect is limited to 2-3 months, ie. we are moving towards a situation of a three-dose vaccine “, explained Dr. Asparuh Iliev.

He said that last week’s Pfizer and Modern studies showed that there was an increase in so-called B-cells in memory, which meant that the effect of the vaccines would be much longer lasting.

According to him, the ideal option would be to have long-term protection against severe disease or to have a vaccine that completely stops the spread of the disease.

The fact is that Omicron is easier, but on the other hand the intensive care units are full, the doctor added.
