Doubtful meat and cheese business: Police accused 16 people of 220 million fraud

Police spokeswoman Lenka Javorková informed about the case on Friday. According to criminologists, it was an organized group run by four men aged 33 to 55 from Prague.

“The allegations were created by purpose-built retail chains of companies that interconnected, at least from February 2014 to June 2016, speculative purchases and sales of meat and cheese goods to varying degrees in terms of business, invoicing and personnel, with the sole aim and purpose of reducing VAT. values, ”the spokeswoman said.

The chain of companies was to include about 40 companies that operated in various places in the Czech Republic.

“The damage caused by the accusations by cutting taxes exceeds 220 million crowns,” the spokeswoman specified.

The police have been dealing with the case since 2018 on the basis of information from the tax office, the charges were made in early August. Criminal investigators accused a total of 16 people (13 men and 3 women) of tax cuts, among the accused are two men from Slovakia.

“The investigator also accused one company from Prague of the same crimes. Forensic scientists continue to work on the case, it is an extensive criminal record that numbers over 30,000 sheets, “added Javorková, adding that the accused are being prosecuted at large and face up to twelve years in prison.
