A double suicide by elderly husbands shook Burgas. The drama took place last night in the home for the elderly in “Septemvriytsi” street in the “Meden Rudnik” complex, writes the “Telegraf” newspaper.
Dimo, 88, and his wife Yanka, 86, were found hanged next to each other in their own home. Their neighbors come across that disturbing sight and every morning they gather with the old men on a bench in front of the house. When they didn’t find them in their usual place on Monday, they got worried and knocked on the door. They made it through the gate and saw the two hanging side by side.
Police squads arrived on the scene and started the investigation. According to the first data collected during the inspection, it is a double suicide, according to the investigators. Husband and wife ended their lives at the same time on Sunday evening after making rope loops.
Neighbors said Dimo and Yanka were good and kind people, but they had a hard time making ends meet and recently got sick. It was difficult for them to look at each other. It is possible that the old men had other reasons that led to their decision to end their life together.
In their home, the police found a farewell note signed by both of them, with which they greeted their relatives and asked them to forgive them. According to neighbors, the elderly couple recently made another suicide attempt, but it failed. Last month, Dimo and Yanka tried to poison themselves with gas and deliberately left the gas bottle open in the kitchen. But then the neighbors smelled the stifling smell and ran to rescue them.
