Donald Trump Pleads “Not Guilty” to 37 Federal Charges Related to Classified Documents Found in His Residence After Presidency

This Tuesday, June 13, Donald Trump appeared before a federal court to respond to a series of investigations that link him to some classified documents found in boxes at his residence after leaving the Presidency.

At the compound, the former US president pleaded “not guilty” to the 37 federal charges against him.

This Monday Donald Trump traveled in his private jet from New Jersey to Miami, where he will appear in court in the case of the confidential documents found in his mansion.

Trump faces 37 counts associated with withholding of National Defense information, concealment of documents and false statements.

To talk about this topic, Rafael Cox Alomar, a constitutional lawyer, spoke with the NTN24 program La Tarde.

According to Cox Alomar, what comes next for Trump after the charges are read and he pleads ‘not guilty’ is to see “what coercive measure is imposed prior to the trial”So at your discretion “They may basically let (Trump) go free pending trial.”

“Now there would be some kind of discovery of evidence. His (Trump) lawyers may file motions to dispose of the lawsuit, but this is a very solid, well-founded accusation.” added.

The constitutional lawyer also explained that in the evidence there are recordings, calls and text messages from Trump himself, which reveal “obstruction of justice and violation of federal laws regarding the possession of classified documents.”

“We are talking about federal felonies. A conviction that necessarily leads to a prison sentence and that is what Trump is exposed to in this case ”the guest mentioned.

Likewise, Cox Alomar maintained that “The fate of Trump will be in the hands of those 12 men or women in Florida who will make up the jury that will listen to the arguments of the Prosecutor’s Office, the defense and that will finally issue a verdict that will be unanimous” .

In the event that there is no unanimity in the verdict in the trial against the former president of the United States, the Department of Justice can file the charges again, but for the interviewee, “There are no third at-bats.”
